Lent Events 2019

A time of preparation and fasting

Lent Events 2019

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday – 6th March.

There will be a celebration of the Eucharist at 10.00am and 7.30 pm.

During Lent we are offering a number of ways for you to observe the season. You can do this on your own or together with others.

You do not have to commit to coming to everything and things like the Bible Study we have each week are separate of each other so you will not be missing any ongoing thoughts.

We all like differing things and there is not a one size fits all approach to Lent. It is better to join in the things that appeal to you. We simply offer all of the following as a way for you to help you mark this season as we come to Holy Week.

Stations or Compline – Saturdays in Lent at 5.00 pm in Church.

Eco Bible study - A TEAR fund course on creation will be on offer on Tuesday evenings in Lent beginning at 7.30p.m. and ending by 9.00p.m. It will explore our relationship with creation and our stewardship of creation. Venue: The Vicarage, 38 Rectory Rd.

Soup and Silence - Each Wednesday in Lent there will be a short service and devotion on the psalm of the day. The service and meditation will last no more than 30 minutes and will begin at 12 noon. For those who wish to stay on there will be a simple soup lunch and donations will go towards a named charity. The lunch lasts about 30 minutes.

Online Diocesan Lent Course - For the technologically minded you can join in the diocesan Lent course and have a daily thought for today sent to your Iphone or PC. See the diocesan webpage to register.

Pray as you go – is a short meditation originally created to be used by commuters in London – it lasts the length of 5 tube stops! Go to the Pray-as-you-go website to download these meditations.

Liz Roost's mediations - After a break of several years there is to be a daily reading booklet which Liz Roost has kindly agreed to put together. This will be available in church before Lent and is free for all to use. It will contain thoughts, prayers and other helpful readings for the Lenten Season.
