INTRODUCTION (preparing to “centre down” into silence and stillness)
“The ancient words of the Psalms can take us into the place which Martin Laird calls “The Silent Land”. This is a place of wordless adoration which is the very essence of contemplative prayer.”   (Reverend Patrick Woodhouse— JMM)
Here are a few examples, try them, to launch forth.......
Psalm 63 —“O God, you are my God; eagerly I seek you.”
Psalm 62 —“On God alone my soul in stillness waits.”
Psalm 36 —“How precious is your loving mercy, O God”
“For with you is the well of life and in your light shall we see light”

GOING-IN PRAYER
“Softly whispering Spirit blow gently into our lives
Blow gently into our minds and bring peace
Blow softly into our thoughts and bring understanding
Blow softly into our concerns and bring calm
Blow softly into our fears and bring courage
Blow softly into our hearts and bring love
Life giving Spirit breathe your life into our lives
This day and every day.     Amen
  (Elizabeth Mills — JMM)

Centre down into that place in you where God is, soak in His presence for up to half an hour,  using your anchor prayer or mantra to draw you back when you wander off, as inevitably you will,         then..........
Slowly begin coming out, back to the here and now.

TO CONCLUDE
“Touch the earth lightly, use the earth gently, nourish the life of the world in our care;
gifts of great wonder, ours to surrender. Trust for the children tomorrow will bear.”
( poem by New Zealander Shirley Erena Murray, mentioned in book by Peter Millar, ‘Touch the Earth Lightly’   JMM)

May the grace of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all evermore” .   Amen.

God bless you.
