Christian Aid January 2019

The unexpected tsunami in the Sunda Strait in Indonesia has probably become a news item of the past to most of us. It is still very much a reality for those who were affected.

Christian Aid works with their local partners, Yakku Emergency Unit (YEU), helping in Rajabasa village. They gave medical relief, provide clean water and rice, blankets and basic hygiene supplies in the area. They have also built a public kitchen for displaced people.

The previous earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia was only last September. The YEU is still delivering essential supplies to the 6500 affected people in that area.

Annual General Meeting

The Burnham-on-Sea District committee coordinates raising funds for Christian Aid in this area. The AGM is on Saturday 2nd February at St Mary’s Berrow church room (next to the church) starting at 10:30am. It is an open meeting and everyone who is interested in Christian Aid is very welcome. There will be a soup lunch after the meeting and also a bring and buy table during the morning.

Collection at Tesco

Tesco is allowing us to have a collection for Christian Aid at the Burnham-on-Sea branch on Friday 22nd February. If you would like to volunteer to help during the day please see Gill Miller.
